You’ve probably watched and read plenty of information already about manifesting what you want into your life and setting intentions to create abundance. Maybe you are excitedly experiencing the success of it all but maybe you are in the doubting frustrated crowd that have ‘been there – tried that’ to no avail.
I’ve been on both sides. One feels incredible and the other one just sucks, to be honest. (and that’s usually the time when negative people show their faces to further fuel that doubt)
So… What’s the deal?? Why does it work for some and not others?
There are a couple things to consider. We will start with the most common ones.
1. As you set your intention, choose your words wisely.
So often, we write down a list or think in our mind of how we would like our lives, relationships, careers or how to change our circumstances, but we unknowingly focus only on what we want to change rather that the change we would like to see occur. Maybe you are in a bad relationship and you are ready to be treated with love and respect. It will not help at all so simply say “I want a better relationship”. Yes, it’s true, but it speaks from the perspective of lack and wanting. Rather – recognize the problem and move on to the next point.
2. Get emotionally involved and speak with gratitude.
You’ve recognized that there is a problem but it just seems to cycle and continue. Why? You have only given the problem a name and wished for more. Instead, close your eyes. Imagine the way you would like to be treated. Imagine the words you’d like to hear, the touch you would like to feel, the feelings you would like to experience. Smile, even if you don’t believe it. And really imagine a partner treating you with the deepest amount of love and respect. *(Now, this can be hard for some because they, on some level, do not feel they are deserving of such love and respect. If that’s so, then there is a deeper lesson here and I’m happy to talk to you and walk with you as you learn to more deeply love yourself. Love from another reflects the love we have for ourselves.)
Now that you feel the reality of those words, the touch and the experiences… hold deep gratitude in your heart for them. Say thank you. Be proud that your see your worth and are ready to receive more love into your life. And then,
3. BE your gratitude and intention.
Yes. BE IT. We can keep going with the relationship analogy, but this applies to anything you choose to bring more of in your life. In your relationships where you want more love and respect, BE love. BE respect to both your partner and yourself. (and if there is abuse, be love and respect to both of you, even if that means loving enough to leave.)
With your career, BE that person. BE the success. Proclaim and be the professional, the musician, the healer, the entrepreneur, the confident one!
Want more respect? Be respectful. Want to be more appreciated? Show more appreciation.
With money … No joke – BE the MONEY. It doesn’t have to always make sense; have fun with it! Smile and acknowledge that life has the power to be as limiting or magical as we create it to be.
I call these ‘Complimentary Actions of Intention.’
Recognize the change or thing you are ready for. Close your eyes and feel the existence of it emotionally. And then, really live in that state of being.
The key is to locate the desired emotion at the root of your intention or what you are looking to manifest and attract into your life. When you are able to separate this process from simply a method of manifestation and into a deep spiritual practice, then you will begin to see the beauty in it and how you can grow in the most beautiful and humbling ways.
I start my day by sitting quietly, closing my eyes and going through my list of intentions. It goes a little like this and sets a wonderful foundation for your meditation and practice of intention.
Today, I desire: Peace. Love. Respect. Abundance. Health. Patience. Closeness.
Today I am thankful for: Peace. Love. Respect. Abundance. Health. Patience. Closeness.
Today I will BE: Peace. Love. Respect. Abundance. Health. Patience. Closeness.
Saying each intention slowly and really picturing the desire, the thankfulness and the BEING of each emotion, allows what matches that frequency into your path. At the start of my work day, I know I want to be productive and successful but not neglect my health, relationships, home or children. I will do my best in these things when I am present and BEING my desires.
Look at is as a personal prayer; a way to begin your day with foreshadowed accomplishment and grace.
You are worth receiving all the love, beauty and abundance there is to experience. So start with yourself.
As Gandhi said, “BE the change you want to see in the world.” You want your reality to change?
It starts with you.
