Conscious Business Practice – When Client’s Don’t Pay.

I felt the need to write about this as if felt heavy on the forefront of my mind.

Entrepreneurs and small businesses have a gift in their trade which is usually why it’s their trade in the first place.   They have a service to offer that enhances the lives and businesses around them.

I am that entrepreneur.  I have that experience and expertise.  I love helping people and creating opportunity for them.  But a friend of mine, working in a similar industry, was faced with a problem that I recognized is one that should be addressed. What about when people don’t pay? Or avoid paying?  Or skimp, trying to just pay the bare minimum?

Well, for me, I’m a heart centered business woman with a dedication to empowerment and conscious development.  Does this mean that I should be content with people committing to payment and then disappearing suddenly when the bill arrives?  I have a life as well.  I am a single mom with three kids to take care of.  Don’t mess with my kids.  Hell.  NO.

But wait – I’m a conscious, aware, loving, forgiving…..

……individual that deserves to be treated with a reciprocated                                                                                                                                                respect for my skills, my care, services and humanity.

So where’s the balance? Well, from where I sit, you /we have a few options.

First of all, hold love in your heart for that person.  START THERE.   I know you may be distracted at how pissed you are that it’s going down like this, but this is your chance to practice what you preach.

Start with love.    Remember that they too, are human.  Have you ever been unable to pay a bill?  I’ve been there.  When you have every utility company state-wide calling to remind you that your gas money belongs to them, it’s hard not to go into a place of panic and anger for your feelings of poverty.

Feel Your Abundance & Share It With Them.   Remember why you started working with them.  They requested your services to make their life / business better.  (…looks like they still need you)  You can now help yourself AND them.  Close your eyes and consider the beauty and joy in your life.   Feel your own abundance – regardless of your non-paying frustration – and then imagine the same for them. Imagine their finances straightening out and them experiencing that peace that comes with knowing YOU CAN pay what you owe.

Decide What the Need is.   Now is the time for you to kick in your intuition, self-respect, and clarity.  Each situation is different and will require various responses.   For certain clients, it will be just what they need  to be reminded and strictly held to contract and agreement.  Some are going through serious hardship and it will be best to forgive the debt, knowing it’s your good juju and to their loving blessing.  The ones who truly need a forgiven debt will likely be that much committed to you in the future.  The ones you choose to collect from, may not see the necessity now, but will learn and hopefully grown in the process. Respect your trade.   Remember that not paying for *your* services is no different from a client leaving a restaurant without paying.  Both are technically stealing.  But this is conscious business.  Some people will need to be held to strict accountability and some will need abounding grace.  ALL NEED LOVE.

Keep love as the motivation behind all your words and actions and your heart will lead you toward the right response for the moment.

Has this ever happened to you?   How did you respond?  Let me know in the comments below!

Want to Have A GREAT Day? Join Me in a Gratitude Challenge?

I woke this morning with my eyes in protest as the sheets felt warm and invited me to linger.   It was hard to get up and start my day but it was time.

I was suddenly overcome with the thought that these very reasons for which I was frustrated about getting out of bed were also great reasons to be thankful.  I knew that though I wasn’t ready to get out of bed and journey to the shower, that once I got in the shower, I would enjoy the warmth of the water so much that I would be irritated about moving on from that as well.

How about a mind shift?  Thoughts float mindlessly through us regularly.  What if we chose to direct them in a more positive, productive and enjoyable way?

My challenge to you to today is that as the time goes by today that you use the hours to be thankful. On the hour today, each hour, I will be bringing to mind what I have gratitude for.    Even taking 30 seconds to do this will transform the flow of your day.  I’m excited to see what enters into my presence when I focus on the beauty and possibility that is already around me!

Finally, I would LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!   Please, in the comments below, let me know what you hold gratitude for.  And if you want to share your gratitude practices, I am all the more honored to hear from you.

This short but motivational post is from my heart to yours, wishing that all would both experience and create their desired life and bliss!

Mercury in Retrograde? No Problem. You’ve Got This.

Mercury in Retrograde? No Problem. You've Got This.

One of the most highly discussed topics on social media right now is that of Mercury being in retrograde. What does this mean for everyone? Are we all doomed to experiencing emotional roller coasters, things breaking and businesses going sour? No. …. or yes. Well.. Let me explain.

I feel like you probably know the history behind this confusing topic, but if not, let me divulge for a moment. Mercury goes through this phenomenon about 3 to 4 times in a year and for about 3 weeks at a time where the planet appears to slow down, stop and then go backwards a bit. However, it’s more of a pause – an optical illusion while the rest of us must continue to orbit in forward motion in our daily lives. In reality, all retrogrades show us that it is sometimes more important slow down and reflect on the inward than simply remain focused on the outer. Robert Wilkinson writes, in his Aquarius Papers, “…While it seems as though Mercury retrograde is associated with things that malfunction and miscommunications and delays, we must remember that in actuality, no planet or its influence is good or bad unto itself. We are the ones who determine our ‘destiny,’ based on our choices, which shape our character. In that sense, ‘character is destiny,’ and so we have the responsibility to determine whether we will be active or passive in responding to life’s challenges.”

As with all retrogrades, we can use this time to take a reflect on the things of the past, or even what has recently begun. This current one helps us to re-shape our minds, understanding, perspectives and processes by taking current observations into past feelings, filling in some aspects or elements we previously didn’t understand that could set the stage that would allow us to forgive or have compassion for something we went through.

That being said, I have to admit that I didn’t know retrograde was upon us until my spastic emotional highs and lows whispered (or shouted) into my subconscious, that something bigger was happening in and all around me. I felt incredibly happy and excited about this, but at the same time, ready to bawl my eyes out. Why, you may ask? Well, I’m sure I don’t know! That’s what this whole retrograde thing is all about, right??

🙂

This isn’t necessarily a ‘bad’ thing. I know people (myself included) who are apt to post cautionary calls to awareness, but in truth, this occasional visitor arrives with an intention to give. We have the opportunity to use this time to follow in it’s path; to stop, pause, look back and reflect. It’s a time when people are more intuitive and that old buried shit seems to come back for us to more fully deal with.

Because we are operating from a more sensitive, dare I say, more emotional state, we are advised to stay away from signing contracts, venturing in to new markets, starting/ending a relationship … In short – this is NOT the time to make major decisions. It IS time to sit down and reflect on your personal healing, growth, needs, goals, desires …. and where you are on your road to bliss.

I realized that for my life, I need to take better care of myself and plan ahead to include those times that feed and fuel the natural motivated and excited energy within me. That is my natural state. But starve the spirit, especially when it is most in need, is to engage in self-sabotage. THAT is the shadow side of Mercury being in retrograde.

I believe that incredible things and opportunities are about to get amazing for everyone – but you won’t be able to experience them if you remain stuck in this potential bad mode/energy. Now, more than ever, surround yourself with uplifting people and create proactive, positive practices in your life.

You may even want to temporarily change how you ‘do life’. We all desperately need to take care of ourselves right now. Take baths when possible, nap occasionally, meditate, write, read, laugh, hang with friends, get in to your bodies, play …

So, give to yourself. Get happy. Eat healthy, be active, meditate, express yourself and have grace with your weaknesses. If you aren’t loving yourself, if you aren’t happy, you will only stunt the progression of possibility.

What do you do when retrograde strikes?   What gets you through with a smile on your face?  Let me know in the comments below!

See Your Desire & BE it.

3 Points for LIVING YOUR PASSION that will ENRICH and INSPIRE you.

3 Points for LIVING YOUR PASSION that will ENRICH and INSPIRE you.

You’ve probably watched and read plenty of information already about manifesting what you want into your life and setting intentions to create abundance. Maybe you are excitedly experiencing the success of it all but maybe you are in the doubting frustrated crowd that have ‘been there – tried that’ to no avail.

I’ve been on both sides. One feels incredible and the other one just sucks, to be honest. (and that’s usually the time when negative people show their faces to further fuel that doubt)

So… What’s the deal?? Why does it work for some and not others?

There are a couple things to consider. We will start with the most common ones.

1. As you set your intention, choose your words wisely.
So often, we write down a list or think in our mind of how we would like our lives, relationships, careers or how to change our circumstances, but we unknowingly focus only on what we want to change rather that the change we would like to see occur. Maybe you are in a bad relationship and you are ready to be treated with love and respect. It will not help at all so simply say “I want a better relationship”. Yes, it’s true, but it speaks from the perspective of lack and wanting. Rather – recognize the problem and move on to the next point.

2. Get emotionally involved and speak with gratitude.
You’ve recognized that there is a problem but it just seems to cycle and continue. Why? You have only given the problem a name and wished for more. Instead, close your eyes. Imagine the way you would like to be treated. Imagine the words you’d like to hear, the touch you would like to feel, the feelings you would like to experience. Smile, even if you don’t believe it. And really imagine a partner treating you with the deepest amount of love and respect. *(Now, this can be hard for some because they, on some level, do not feel they are deserving of such love and respect. If that’s so, then there is a deeper lesson here and I’m happy to talk to you and walk with you as you learn to more deeply love yourself. Love from another reflects the love we have for ourselves.)
Now that you feel the reality of those words, the touch and the experiences… hold deep gratitude in your heart for them. Say thank you. Be proud that your see your worth and are ready to receive more love into your life. And then,

3. BE your gratitude and intention.
Yes. BE IT. We can keep going with the relationship analogy, but this applies to anything you choose to bring more of in your life. In your relationships where you want more love and respect, BE love. BE respect to both your partner and yourself. (and if there is abuse, be love and respect to both of you, even if that means loving enough to leave.)
With your career, BE that person. BE the success. Proclaim and be the professional, the musician, the healer, the entrepreneur, the confident one!
Want more respect? Be respectful. Want to be more appreciated? Show more appreciation.
With money … No joke – BE the MONEY. It doesn’t have to always make sense; have fun with it! Smile and acknowledge that life has the power to be as limiting or magical as we create it to be.

I call these ‘Complimentary Actions of Intention.’

Recognize the change or thing you are ready for. Close your eyes and feel the existence of it emotionally. And then, really live in that state of being.

The key is to locate the desired emotion at the root of your intention or what you are looking to manifest and attract into your life. When you are able to separate this process from simply a method of manifestation and into a deep spiritual practice, then you will begin to see the beauty in it and how you can grow in the most beautiful and humbling ways.

I start my day by sitting quietly, closing my eyes and going through my list of intentions. It goes a little like this and sets a wonderful foundation for your meditation and practice of intention.

Today, I desire: Peace. Love. Respect. Abundance. Health. Patience. Closeness.
Today I am thankful for: Peace. Love. Respect. Abundance. Health. Patience. Closeness.
Today I will BE: Peace. Love. Respect. Abundance. Health. Patience. Closeness.

Saying each intention slowly and really picturing the desire, the thankfulness and the BEING of each emotion, allows what matches that frequency into your path. At the start of my work day, I know I want to be productive and successful but not neglect my health, relationships, home or children. I will do my best in these things when I am present and BEING my desires.

Look at is as a personal prayer; a way to begin your day with foreshadowed accomplishment and grace.

You are worth receiving all the love, beauty and abundance there is to experience. So start with yourself.

As Gandhi said, “BE the change you want to see in the world.” You want your reality to change?

It starts with you.
